Stem Cell Research
Stem cell research is defined as the scientific study of embryonic, fetal, adult, as well as induced pluripotent stem cells of living organisms of all kinds. By definition, stem cells are cells that are not yet fully developed and therefore have the potential to differentiate into different cell types. Particularly in medical and biological disciplines, major findings in stem cell research are obtained and applied. However, as stem cell research and in particular its translation is extremely complex various other fields such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and materials sciences are also actively involved. Stem cell research is interdisciplinary and international. An important aim of the stem cell research in medicine is the cellular replacement therapy, and the ultimate goal of regenerating defective organs by applying of stem cells.
